Karen and I talked for a full hour before this interview and I’m sure we could have easily talked for another hour after. We spent a lot of time on the 3 topics that interest us both: wealth creation in an unequal world; how to build a financial life rooted in our values; and our joint concern about the “wealth narrative” in the US. The reality is, we both work with people who are considered “wealthy” but don’t exhibit the associated characteristics or behaviors portrayed by the media (for example, though most of our clients will be directly effected by tax increases, they are still supportive of those increases). There is a sense among our wealthier clients that we are all in this together, and that we need to do more to help people – especially in such difficult times as 2020-2021.
